CheckMate ("we", "us", "our") is a habit-building mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app and website.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and avatar selection.

Usage Data

We store data you create within the app, including:

  • Quests (habits) and completion records
  • Raid participation and progress
  • Journal entries
  • Profile information and gamification stats (XP, badges, streaks)
  • Notification preferences

Technical Data

We may collect device type, operating system version, and push notification tokens to deliver notifications you have opted into.

3. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used exclusively to provide and improve the CheckMate service:

  • Delivering core app functionality (quests, raids, journal, profiles)
  • Sending push notifications you have opted into
  • Enabling multiplayer features (raids, notice board)
  • Calculating gamification stats (XP, levels, streaks)

4. What We Never Do

  • We never sell your data to third parties
  • We never use your data for advertising
  • We never share your journal entries with other users
  • We never use your data for AI/ML training purposes

5. Data Storage

Your data is stored securely on Supabase, a cloud database platform with enterprise-grade security, including encryption at rest and in transit. Our database is hosted in secure data centres with SOC 2 Type II compliance.

6. Data Sharing

We share data only in these limited cases:

  • Multiplayer features: Your display name, avatar, and raid progress are visible to raid participants
  • Notice board: Quests you choose to publish are visible to other users
  • Profile: Information you choose to make public on your profile

We do not share data with advertisers, data brokers, or any third parties for commercial purposes.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your data through the app
  • Export your journal entries at any time
  • Delete your entire account and all associated data permanently via Settings
  • Update your profile and preferences at any time

Account deletion is a full cascade delete that removes all your data from our systems, including authentication records.

8. Children's Privacy

CheckMate is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the app or via email.
