Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using CheckMate ("the app"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. Description of Service

CheckMate is a habit-building application with RPG gamification elements. Features include personal quests, multiplayer raids, journaling, and a progression system. The service is provided "as is" and may be updated or modified at any time.

3. Accounts

  • You must provide a valid email address to create an account
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
  • You must be at least 13 years old to use CheckMate
  • One person may not maintain more than one account

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the app for any unlawful purpose
  • Publish quests or content that is offensive, abusive, or harmful
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' accounts or data
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure
  • Use automated means to access the service (bots, scrapers, etc.)
  • Impersonate another person or entity

5. User Content

You retain ownership of content you create in CheckMate (quests, journal entries, profile information). By publishing content to the notice board or participating in raids, you grant us a limited licence to display that content to other users as part of the service.

We reserve the right to remove content that violates these terms or our community guidelines.

6. Raids and Reward Pledges

Reward pledges made in raids are agreements between users. CheckMate facilitates these pledges but is not responsible for their fulfilment. We encourage users to pledge only what they can deliver.

7. Pricing

CheckMate is free to use. If we introduce paid features in the future, existing free features will remain free. We will never charge for core habit-tracking functionality.

8. Termination

You may delete your account at any time through the app's Settings. Account deletion permanently removes all your data.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice where possible.

9. Limitation of Liability

CheckMate is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to data loss, service interruptions, or interactions with other users.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. We will notify users of significant changes.
